Our Heartbeat: Who we are
Love of Hearts Foundation Incorporated (LoHF) was founded from a heart for people facing difficult seasons and needing to know that they are not alone. We walk alongside individuals and families with love, compassion, and genuine care, helping them to bridge the gaps that create hardship, and reminding them that they are seen, valued, and supported.
We believe every person deserves the opportunity to pursue an education, have access to the essentials, and to move forward with support, even while facing life’s challenges. Through this mission, Love of Hearts Foundation Incorporated (LoHF) brings practical support and heartfelt encouragement, establishing systems that help others navigate today’s challenges and build hope for tomorrow.
We are called to serve by coming alongside individuals and families with love, intentionality, and true compassion. Our care goes beyond the surface; we prioritize their needs, stand with them through difficult moments, bridge the gaps created by hardship, and remain present with those who may need more additional support.
Our work is guided by compassion, grounded in dignity, and carried out with purpose. Every act of service reflects the heart of why we started; to uplift others, remind them that they matter, and assure them that they are never alone. FROM MY HEART TO YOURS
Dear Friends,
Welcome to Love of Hearts Foundation Incorporated (LoHF).
Love of Hearts Foundation Incorporated (LoHF) was born from a deep sense of compassion and a lifelong desire to help my mother escape domestic abuse and financial hardship. My journey began long before this organization had a name.
But when I was 14 years old, something shifted. I began teaching the children in my neighborhood how to read and providing meals for them. One day, someone spoke words over me that became the heartbeat of my future: “You are truly a lover of the hearts.”
The Quiet Battles
As a young girl, I witnessed my mother endure years of abuse while I myself also experienced the pain of child abuse. We struggled silently, financially, emotionally, and physically, without anyone to turn to for guidance, protection or support to help us find a way out.
I vividly recall the quiet battles: my mother tirelessly trying to find money for school supplies, lunch, uniforms, and the basic necessities every child needs, all while fearing for her safety. I yearned to help her, even when I was too young to comprehend the extent of her need or what help would look like.
A Name Is Given
From an early age, I felt a profound calling to make a difference and advocate for those in need. One summer, I began teaching children in my neighborhood how to read and prepared meals for them from my porch. I envisioned my home as a safe haven for those in distress. One day, a friend of my father remarked, “You are truly a lover of hearts”. Those words resonated with me, shaping the vision that would eventually become this organization and inspire its name.

At 19: My First Act of Service
My first life-changing act of service came when I was 19 years old. I often noticed a 10 year old girl in my neighborhood going to school looking untidy and disheartened. One day I spoke to her and learned that she was also struggling in school.
After speaking with her family and obtaining their permission, I stepped in to assist her as I recognized she was being forced to fend for herself. I assisted by transferring her to a better school, encouraged her consistent attendance, ensured that she was properly groomed, cared for, valued and had the support she needed.
Gradually, she gained confidence and believed in a better future for herself. Witnessing her transformation reinforced my belief that one person can make a lasting impact on another’s life.
At 21: Freedom for My Mother
At age 21, I was finally able to help my mother escape her abusive environment. I helped her with the deposit to purchase a house, enabling her to move away from the abuse and into safety and freedom. That moment changed everything for me! I realized that my life’s purpose was to help others facing hardship, who feel alone, unseen or unsupported.
Around that time, I started supporting two young girls, both eight years old, by providing school supplies and financial assistance for their education from primary level through to high school. I gave from my heart, expecting nothing in return.

2012: Love of Hearts Becomes Official
These early experiences shaped the heart of LoHF: to meet people in moments of hardship, uncertainty, and need with practical support, compassion, and love.
In 2012, my lifelong mission became official with the establishment of Love of Hearts Foundation Incorporated (LoHF).

Today: Love in Action
Today, our foundation focuses primarily on expanding access to education and supporting women and children affected by abuse. I know firsthand how education empowered me, gave me a vision, and provided me with a path toward a better future. My mother and I endured unimaginable hardships and pain, and I would never wish that experience on anyone.
As I matured, I also came to understand — as a friend pointed out to me — that hardship knows no boundaries, that men experience hardship as well, and that everyone deserves compassion, support, and the opportunity to experience what a life impacted by love looks like.
LoHF exists to remind every person facing a difficult season that they are not alone. We are here to impact lives through love, bridge the gaps created by hardship, and demonstrate what love in action looks like. We provide support where it is needed most, standing beside those searching for a way out, a way forward, and a reason to hope again.
LoHF is more than an organization providing support. We are a community committed to creating lasting change. We believe that love, when expressed through meaningful action, has the power to heal hearts, strengthen communities and transform futures.

2000+ Supply Kits distributed
The Foundation crosses a massive operational milestone, successfully packing and delivery over 2,000 essential supply kits to underserved families facing servere economic hardships.

The Road Ahead

Back-to-school
Drive
Every academic year, vulnerable families face immense financial pressure to purchase basic learning materials. We are actively raising $25,000 USD to supply packed learning kits, text books, and uniform distributions directly to children across our underserved communities in western Jamaica.
Education Assistant & Support Fund
Financial crises should never force a brilliant mind into an early exit from school. This dedicated $30,000 USD fund provides ongoing tuition assistance, learning emergency grants, and structural resource funding to preserve baseline educational access for students that need it the most.
Youth Mentorship Programme
True environment transition requires consistent personal intervention. We pair neglected youth in Jamaica with caring mentors who guide them step-by-step through vital literacy training and leadership development frameworks.

Liza Hart
Founder and President
A survivor of child abuse who watched her mother endure years of domestic abuse, Liza was 19 when she first stepped in to change a child’s future. She founded Love of Hearts in 2012, bringing together that lived experience and her clinical background as a Family Nurse Practitioner to expand access to education and support women and children affected by abuse.
Lisa Laidley
Executive Secretary and Treasurer
Serving as Executive and Treasurer, Lisa provides the strategic oversight and financial accountability that keeps the foundation organized and fiscally responsible. Her meticulous leadership ensures that every resource is managed with absolute transparency, directly maximizing our impact on the ground.
KrysAnn Landell
Programme Manager and Officer
Serving as Programme Manager and Officer, Krys-Ann directs and refines our community initiatives to ensure they are executed with excellence and deep care. Her dedicated oversight bridges the gap between our organizational goals and real-world relief, making sure our programs effectively serve families when and where it matters most.
